Patience for Patients
I am a recent MidState Medical Center patient who needed surgery for a hiatal hernia. Dr. Ken Schwartz, a great spirit for what he does, made me feel informed, he drew pictures on a board diagramming my internal parts and just how he would maneuver around and get to the heart of my problems. The whole surgical team is a great group. Special thanks to Jenn, my nurse at night. What patience, always making sure I was comfortable.

Caring Cath Team
From the moment I was brought into the waiting area (of the Hartford Hospital Cath Lab) for an out-patient procedure, my care was exemplary, with the nursing staff displaying compassion, understanding and professionalism. I cannot imagine a more positive experience. The nurse primarily responsible for my care anticipated every need and kept me apprised of what she was doing and what would occur.

Speech Pathologist Balances Encouragement and Compassion
Without Katlyn Baker, I don’t think I could have gotten through my recent total laryngectomy at Hartford Hospital. She was patient but she also made me tow the mark. She encouraged me and gave me confidence. If ever I have a question, she will always return my call. I can’t tell you what a comfort that is.

Critical Compassion at SVMC
My husband was being treated for pneumonia in the St. Vincent’s Medical Center ICU, where all the nurses and doctors provided exceptional service and did everything possible to turn his critical condition around. Nurse Jen Marrocco was on duty the day my husband’s condition was changing and we needed to make critical decisions about his care. She called me at home and because of this, I was able to quickly get back to the hospital and be by his side when he passed away. The job your ICU team has is so difficult yet they all stay positive and treat the patients and families with dignity.
